LEARNING PERSIAN BOOKS TWO AND THREE (Book and four audio CDs) teaches through a method in which all lessons are presented in the language to be learned. Concepts and vocabulary are built up gradually in each chapter by adding to those introduced earlier and by integrating all of the ideas. Frequent repetition reinforces what the student has already learned. An English-Persian vocabulary at the end of each lesson helps the student complete the exercises. The book includes: a grammar related to the lessons; a glossary of grammatical terms in Persian and English; conjugation tables of commonly used verbs; and a list of the present stems of the irregular verbs.

Learning Persian is the product of years of teaching and research experience by three outstanding teachers of Persian who are presently teaching at universities in the Washington DC area. The book’s advantage is that its substance and methodology reflect the authors’ hands-on experience, as crystallized and enriched through daily interaction with students. This textbook — with its unique features — is an important contribution towards the goal of educating a new generation of students in this rich language.
